AARP Driver Safety Class

HEBER SPRINGS — An AARP Driver Safety Program class will he held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the McCoy Room of the Administration/Student Services Building at Arkansas State University-Heber Springs. Individuals age 55 and older who complete the course will qualify for a three-year discount on their automobile-insurance premiums in Arkansas. Tex-Mex Dinner and Dessert Event

HEBER SPRINGS — A Tex-Mex Dinner and Dessert event with live music by Glenn Parrish, Robert Hannah and Sam Querry will be held at 5 p.m. at the Heber Springs Community Center. There will be live and silent auctions, with a queen-size butterfly quilt as the featured item. Tickets for the dinner and music are $10. Children younger than 5 will be admitted free. Career Exploration Explosion Workshop

MORRILTON — A Career Exploration Explosion workshop for eighth- through 11th-graders will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through June 25. Lunch will be provided. This four-day journey will allow students to explore possibilities for their future. They will gain hands-on experience, while shaping an understanding of various career fields. Adult Summer Reading Program

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library offers Escape the Ordinary, the library’s first summer reading program for adult readers ages 16 and older. Participants will sign up and receive a punch card to keep track of books that are checked out and read. E-book readers are asked to email a list of e-books read to fcl@fcl.org with their full name and library-card number. Card punches are also given for attending summer library events, purchasing $2 worth of books from the Friends of the Library book table in the library foyer or joining Friends of the Library. Rotary Club Meat Sale

HEBER SPRINGS — The Rotary Club of Heber Springs is taking orders for smoked pork butts. The cost is $40 for meat weighing an average of 7 to 8 pounds. Orders will be available for pickup from 8-9:30 a.m. June 27 at Eagle Bank. To place an order, contact any Rotarian, or call Brenda Fudge, chairwoman of public relations, at (501) 589-3868. Proceeds from the sale will support local charity organizations and provide college scholarships.

M.J. Hickey Pool Hours

RUSSELLVILLE — The M.J. Hickey Pool is open from 12:30-6:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $4 for adults 18 and older; $3 for children 7 to 17; and $2 for children 6 and younger. Individual season passes are available for $75 at the Hughes Center, 1000 E. Parkway.

Friends of the Library Book Shop

HEBER SPRINGS — The Friends of the Library Book Shop, 2255 Arkansas 25B N., is open from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The shop offers a large selection of books at bargain prices. All proceeds from the shop benefit the libraries in Cleburne County.

Cherokee Bingo

CONWAY — Cherokee Bingo begins at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Helton’s Wrecker Service/U-Haul, 710 S. Harkrider St. All proceeds go to the Helton-Osburn-Spencer Scholarship Fund at the University of Central Arkansas.

Community Fireworks Display

RUSSELLVILLE — The city of Russellville will present a free community fireworks display at 9:25 p.m. July 4 at Old Post Road Park. Concessions will be available through the Russellville Kiwanis Club.

Fireworks Extravaganza

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 2015 Fireworks Extravaganza, one of the largest fireworks displays in Arkansas, on July 4 over Greers Ferry Lake. View the show from the shores of Sandy Beach or by boat.
