Oil Town Festival

Free nightly concerts -- performances by gospel acts The McMillans and Terry Lyne Moore today; the Cummins Prison Band and Windstorm on Friday; and the Gable Bradley Band, Lainey Wilson and Riverbilly on Saturday -- plus horseshoe pitching, arm wrestling, turtle races, bingo, Bunco, dog shows, a watermelon-eating contest, a rib cook-off, children's activities, 5K Oil Run and a yellow duck race down No Name Creek -- are all part of the 44th annual Smackover Oil Town Festival, today-Saturday, 10th Street and Broadway, Smackover. Memorial marker

The Gen. T.J. Churchill Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will dedicate a Civil War sesquicentennial marker commemorating three 15- and 16-year-old Virginia Military Institute cadets from prominent Little Rock families who fought in the May 15, 1864, Battle of New Market in Virginia, 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Holly Cemetery, 1200 Broadway, Little Rock.

Sponsors of the marker are the Downtown Dames (also sponsors of the Mount Holly Garden Series on the third Saturday morning, April through October), the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission and Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council. Admission is free; there is a suggested donation of $5 to the Downtown Dames. Call (501) 529-3802.

Deathtrap auditions

Community Theatre of Little Rock will hold open auditions for Deathtrap by Ira Levin at 2 p.m. June 27-28 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral's Mitchell House, 310 W. 17th St., Little Rock. Directors Jerry Woods and Liz Turner will cast three men, two in their 40s and one in his 20s-early 30s, and two women in their 30s-40s via cold readings from the script. Production dates Sept. 3-13. Snow White auditions

The Rialto Theatre, 2010 E. Broadway, Morrilton, will hold open auditions at 2 p.m. June 28 for children 7-13 for a production of Snow White in an adaptation by J. Michael Straczynski. No experience is necessary; auditions will consist of readings from provided material.
