An inmate on Thursday escaped from Sherwood police custody, police say.
David Earl Jordan escaped about 8:55 a.m. while being escorted to a holding area after appearing in Sherwood District Court.
Jordan, 40, is described as a 5-foot-7 black man weighing 275 pounds, police said.
He left driving a 2005 gray Ford Escape with license plate 812RWM.
Jordan struck the court bailiff who was pursuing him. Felony aggravated assault charges are pending.
It’s unknown if Jordan is armed but authorities say not to approach him and contact police instead.
