LITTLE ROCK — Eleven people involved in a Fort Smith drug trafficking ring have been sentenced in federal court.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Arkansas announced Friday the sentencing of 11 defendants arrested as part of a Drug Enforcement Administration investigation that began in November 2013. The probe netted about nine pounds of seized methamphetamine.
William Anderson, identified by federal authorities as the leader of the ring, was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison and five years of supervised release for a conviction on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
The 10 other defendants were sentenced to between seven years and 15 months in prison for charges of distribution of methamphetamine or possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
