Sale said competing in 7-on-7 is beneficial when it comes to competing on Friday nights in the fall, pointing out that it allows quarterbacks and receivers to work on their timing and get a better feel for each other in a competitive atmosphere.

"I love being out here throwing the ball," Sale said. "It's fun for us. We love it."

Little Rock Catholic Coach John Fogleman agreed with his quarterback that participating in 7-on-7 is a good way to prepare for the regular season.

"The 7-on-7 is getting back to what we do and not what somebody else does," Fogleman said. "It's everybody getting on the same page."

Sale completed 161 of 279 yards for 2,006 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior while leading Catholic into the first round of the Class 7A playoffs, where the Rockets lost to Fort Smith Northside to finish the season 5-6.

Sale said it was a good season, but he is hoping for more improvement his senior season.

"We didn't have too much vocal leadership last year," Sale said. "I think we're going to bring it this year. We're going to be much more motivated and win a few more games than we did last year."

Fogleman praised Sale for his great work ethic.

"There's no baggage that comes along with the kid," Fogleman said.

Sale has been offered a football scholarship by Austin Peay, a Football Championship Subdivision school in Clarksville, Tenn. Tennessee-Martin has shown interest, and Arkansas has asked him to walk on. He also has attended camps at Missouri and Purdue and will visit Louisiana-Monroe, Florida Atlantic and North Texas later this year.

"He's one of the better ones," Fogleman said. "He really wants to play at the next level."

He also wants to go deeper than the first round of the playoffs this season.

"Everyone's getting better," Sale said. "I'm liking our team going into next season."
