LR teen wounded; police investigate

Police were investigating after a teenage boy was shot Thursday night in Little Rock.

Officers were patrolling the area of 6200 Colonel Glenn Road when they saw three black men walking on the sidewalk about 11:21 p.m., according to a police report. One of the men drew a gun and fired several shots. The men ran.

Officers searched the area for the gunman but made no arrests. Six bullet casings were recovered at the scene.

Police were soon called to an apartment nearby at 6310 Colonel Glenn Road, where they found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot in his leg and buttocks, according to the report. The boy was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

He told investigators he was alone when the shooting occurred, and he didn't know the gunman, the report states.

The gunman is described as black and was wearing a white T-shirt and bluejeans, according to the report.

Escapee caught by Sherwood officers

Sherwood police arrested a man Friday who had escaped from custody after a court appearance Thursday.

Police spokesman Lt. Jamie Michaels said officers arrested David Earl Jordan, 40, about 2 p.m. at Barton Oaks Apartments at 107 Barton St. in Little Rock.

Jordan ran from a Sherwood District Court bailiff Thursday after being sentenced to 60 days in jail, police said. He had been convicted of contempt charges related to fraudulent checks.

During Jordan's escape, he purportedly entered a car with an unknown female passenger and struck a bailiff with his vehicle as he drove away. The bailiff suffered minor injuries.

Jordan faces additional charges of fleeing, second-degree battery and second-degree escape. He was being held in the Pulaski County jail.

On way to holdup, LR officer in crash

A Little Rock police officer was injured Thursday when he was in a wreck while driving to a robbery call.

Officer Charles Starks was driving east on Kanis Road about 9:20 p.m. when he struck a Hyundai Santa Fe turning east onto the road from Emergency Center Drive, police reported.

Starks complained of neck, back and shoulder pain after the crash. He was treated at Baptist Health Medical Center and released.

Police said the driver of the Santa Fe, Anthony Logan, 37, was not injured. He was cited for careless or prohibited driving.

A witness told police that Starks was speeding in the patrol car, according to a motor vehicle collision report. No charges were filed against Starks.

Police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan said the crash was under internal review.

Starks was headed to Walgreens at 9200 N. Rodney Parham Road, where an employee, Kema Tillmon, 20, said a man was paying for an item when he pulled out a gun, a police report states. The man threatened to shoot Tillmon if she looked at him, according to the report. He took an unknown amount of cash from the register and fled.

No injuries were reported in the holdup, which was the sixth reported at the pharmacy in the past two years.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The suspect is described as black, 6 feet tall and about 24 years old. He wore bluejeans, a red hoodie and a black, red-brimmed hat.

Man loses wallet, moped to gunman

A man was robbed of his moped at gunpoint Thursday in Little Rock, police reported.

Officers responded about 7:15 p.m. to the 5200 block of L Street.

Everett Roddy, 23, said he was driving home when a brown car cut him off and a man exited the vehicle with a gun, according to a police report. The man took Roddy's wallet and black Honda Metropolitan moped and fled east.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The robber is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 pounds and between the ages of 20 and 25. He wore a black hoodie.

Police car struck; 'pot' charges filed

Little Rock police arrested two men on drug-related charges Wednesday after their vehicle struck a patrol car, according to an arrest report.

Officers were at West 46th and Ludwig streets when Jeremy Collins, 19, drove into the police vehicle about 4:50 p.m., the report states. Police reported searching the vehicle and finding 2.5 ounces of marijuana. A passenger, James Miller, 21, purportedly had a small amount of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Officers also found a digital scale in the vehicle, according to the report. No injuries were reported.

Further details on the crash weren't immediately available.

Collins was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as traffic violations including careless or prohibited driving.

Miller was charged with carrying a weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Neither man was listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Friday.
