CONWAY — A large contingent of athletes and coaches in the River Valley & Ozark Edition coverage area will convene at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway this week for the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star Week activities.

Conway’s 14 representatives lead the area’s numbers among the elite group gathering for several days of competition and camaraderie in baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball and football.

Lady Wampus Cat Jordan Danberry, who will play basketball for the University of Arkansas in the fall, said she looks forward to her final high school game.

“It means a lot,” she said. “I feel very honored to represent Conway. There’s so much talent in Arkansas.”

Central Arkansas Christian girls basketball coach Steve Quattlebaum, a member of the AHSCA’s girls all-star committee, said All-Star Week is a good way to end any high school career.

“You get to play in front of a good crowd with kids from all over the state that you’ve competed against,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity and one I hope they enjoy. I think they will.”
