Andy Murray of Britain celebrates winning at match point during the final tennis match against Kevin Anderson of South Africa at the tennis Championships at Queens Club in London on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

Andy Murray claimed his 34th career title on Sunday with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over unseeded South African Kevin Anderson in the final of the grass-court Queen's Club tournament in London. The top-seeded Murray, who was contesting his 50th career final, also won the event in 2009, 2011 and 2013. He joined John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt as a four-time winner of the event. It was Murray's third title of the year, following victories in Munich and Madrid. Earlier Sunday, the third-ranked Murray completed a 6-3, 7-6 (4) semifinal victory over Serbia's Viktor Troicki after rain stopped play Saturday. Anderson was playing his 10th career final and his first on grass. A victory would have given him his 200th career victory. Murray did not face a break point throughout the match but Anderson, who had dropped serve just once during the week, was broken once in each set. The first break came when Murray led 2-1, with Anderson netting a smash, and Murray moved ahead 3-2 in the second set with a drop shot. Although Anderson had struck 96 aces during the week, he failed to produce the same firepower in the final, and his game lacked any other weapons to trouble Murray.

Weaver placed on DL

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Jered Weaver has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and will undergo an MRI on his left hip. One day after Weaver suffered his fourth consecutive defeat in the Angels' 4-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics, the Angels decided Sunday to put the right-hander on the DL to give his sore hip time to rest. The move was made before the series finale between the Angels and Oakland. Weaver (4-8) said that he's been bothered by soreness in his hip for some time, but doesn't think it's related to his current slump. Still, the Angels are taking a cautious approach with their 32-year-old pitcher, who last won on May 30. In his four starts since then, Weaver has given up 19 earned runs in 26 innings. Outfielder Alfredo Marte was called up from Class AAA Salt Lake City to take Weaver's roster spot.

• New York Yankees right-hander Sergio Santos will have have season-ending Tommy John surgery, and left-hander Jacob Lindgren is set to have a bone spur removed from his elbow, according to the club. The Yankees made the announcement about Santos on Sunday, two days after the oft-injured reliever was placed on the disabled list with elbow inflammation. Lindgren, taken in the second round in the 2014 draft and made his big league debut May 25, was optioned to Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 13. The Yankees tweeted that the rehab and recovery period should be no more than 12 weeks.

Rosberg tops in Austria

Nico Rosberg showed his championship potential by overtaking pole sitter Lewis Hamilton on the first turn to win the Austrian Grand Prix in style on Sunday. The German driver, runner-up to his Mercedes teammate in last year's Formula One championship, took an aggressive inside line to shoot past Hamilton heading into the first turn in an eventful race featuring a heavy crash between Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso and several more retirements. Rosberg's third victory this season took his career tally to 11, and cut Hamilton's overall lead to 10 points. He likes the Red Bull Ring, where he won from third on the grid last year. It was a frustrating day for defending champion Hamilton, who received a five-second penalty for incorrectly leaving the pit lane. Felipe Massa finished third for Williams.

Matt Hagan won the Funny Car final on Sunday in the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol, Tenn., for his first victory on his home track. Hagan, from Christiansburg, Va., had a 4.164-second run at 303.23 mph at Bristol Dragway in his Dodge Charger R/T. He beat Don Schumacher Racing teammate Ron Capps for his fourth of the season and 18th of his career. "This is such a special race for me," said Hagan, the defending and two-time season champion. "I'm two hours down the road and have so many friends and family out here. It just makes it special. I've been wanting to win in Bristol for a long time." Richie Crampton won in Top Fuel, and Erica Enders topped the Pro Stock field. Crampton beat Larry Dixon with a 3.884 at 321.04 for his third victory of the season and fifth overall. Enders won at Bristol for the second consecutive year, edging Chris McGaha with a 6.685 at 206.95 in a Chevrolet Camaro. The defending series champion has four victories this year and 16 overall.
