JONESBORO — Two Arkansas boys are accused of mutilating and killing a kitten after one of them told a neighbor.
The Jonesboro Sun reported that the neighbor reported the incident Saturday afternoon to police after finding remains of the kitten.
Jonesboro police say a man had taken the kitten home after finding it wandering in the street Friday night. The man said the children involved were his 8- and 9-year-old stepsons.
Officer Delfino Valdez said the man left the children home alone to interview for a job Saturday morning. The children dismembered the cat while he was away.
A juvenile has to be at least 10 years old to be charged as a delinquent. Juvenile Court Supervisor Ashley Boles said anyone under age 10 can't face criminal action.
