Man's wallet, SUV stolen in LR attack

Little Rock police were investigating after a man was attacked and robbed of his sport utility vehicle Sunday morning.

Leo Marquez, 25, said he had been driving in the 4000 block of Pine Cone Drive east of Reck Road when he encountered a man standing in the road about 4 a.m., according to a police report. Marquez said he stopped and a woman approached his door, "wrapped an unknown object around his neck" and began trying to pull him out of his Nissan Xterra.

As many as eight men joined the woman, eventually wrestling Marquez to the ground and striking him, the report states.

The attackers took his wallet and vehicle and fled west.

Marquez declined medical treatment, police said.

Officers searched the area but made no arrests.

Marquez's attackers were described as black and in their early 20s. More detailed descriptions were unavailable.

Police seeking two in motel robbery try

Police were seeking two men who investigators believe tried to rob a Little Rock motel at gunpoint Saturday.

Officers responded at 6:17 a.m. to Budget Host Inn at 2600 W. 65th St. An employee, Saju Patel, 42, said two men had entered the motel and asked about vending machines and room rates, according to a police report. One of the men placed a handgun on the counter, and Patel fled.

The two men ran to a green Ford Mustang in the parking lot and drove away, the report said.

No injuries were reported.

Police reviewed surveillance footage of the robbery attempt, the report states. The men were described as black, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds and between the ages of 18 and 25.

One wore a red Aeropostale shirt with black and white shoes and black, striped pants. The other wore khaki pants, white shoes, black glasses, a gold chain and a blue shirt with white stripes.

No arrests had been made Monday.

Holdup likely set up by friend, man says

A man robbed at gunpoint Friday in Little Rock told police he believes he was set up by a friend, police reported.

Mikael Brown, 20, said he met a friend named "Kamere" at 1:13 a.m. at her home in Old Oaks Apartments at 7700 N. Chicot Road, according to a police report.

Kamere got in Brown's vehicle and instructed him to drive around the building to a visitors parking area. That's where a man approached the vehicle with a gun.

Brown said he tried to flee, but at least two other armed men walked up and stopped him, the report states. The men took his wallet and cellphone before telling him to run away. The reports also lists Brown's white 2013 Dodge Avenger as stolen.

No injuries were reported.

Brown told police that Kamere fled during the robbery and that he thinks she arranged the holdup, according to the report.

He could not provide the woman's full name to police.

The robbers were described only as black.

Drinking with pals, man beaten, robbed

A man was found beaten and robbed at his Little Rock apartment Friday after a night of drinking with three friends, police reported.

Officers responded at 5:26 p.m. to Colonial Parc Apartments at 5813 Baseline Road. They found Sam Pirna, 45, in his apartment with two black eyes and "dried blood all over his face and clothing," according to a police report.

Pirna was taken to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, where doctors said he had a shattered orbital bone and brain bleeding, the report states. His injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.

Pirna told investigators he'd been drinking with three men at his apartment the previous night.

He said the men demanded his belongings and that it was the last thing he remembered. Pirna's wallet and cellphone were stolen, according to police.

Detailed descriptions of the robbers were unavailable.

They were each described as black, one of them standing 5-foot-4 and another 5-foot-11.

An investigation was ongoing.
