BENTONVILLE -- A Pea Ridge man turned himself in Monday to begin to serve a 10-year sentence for raping a boy.

Kirk Anthony Parmenter, 23, pleaded guilty to rape, a Class Y felony, in April.

The case was resolved through a plea agreement Kimberly Weber, Parmenter's attorney, reached with with Jason Barrett, special prosecutor. Barrett was appointed to the case because of a conflict with the Benton County prosecuting attorney's office.

Parmenter admitted forcing the boy to engage in a sex act, according to court documents. Parmenter was arrested Oct. 25, 2013.

The boy was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County where he disclosed details of the abuse, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Parmenter's guilty plea.

Parmenter was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must serve at least seven years before he will be eligible for parole. He must register as a sex offender and pay $670 in court costs.

Parmenter was transported to the Benton County Jail where he will be held until he is transferred to state prison.
