Discovery Hour

16th Section Community Picnic

CABOT — The 16th Section Community Crime Watch will host a community picnic from 5-7:30 p.m. at the 16th Section Community Center. The outdoor event will feature hamburgers and hot dogs with condiments, while supplies last. Entertainment and games will also be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Practical-Nursing Classes Application Deadline

BEEBE — June 30 is the deadline to apply for practical-nursing classes for fall 2015 at Arkansas State University-Searcy, a technical campus of ASU-Beebe. Yoga in the Gallery

Second Time Around Bookstore

SEARCY — The Literacy Council of White County operates the Second Time Around Bookstore at 109 E. Center. Proceeds from the sale of donated books support the mission of helping adults in the community improve their literacy and English-language skills. T Tauri Movie Camp Registration Deadline

BATESVILLE— July 6 is the deadline to register for the 11th annual T Tauri Movie Camp, which offers a variety of video-production workshops for aspiring filmmakers ages 8 to 18 and will take place July 13-25. This year’s camp will offer four workshops ranging in length from two to 3 1/2 days: Script to Screen Narrative Filmmaking, Music Video, Cut Paper Stop Motion Animation and Depicting Zombies. The cost is $60 to $100 each for the workshops, which are taught by experienced filmmakers/educators. All supplies and equipment are included. History Detectives Day Camp
