Commission announces drawdown plan for Tri-County Lake

FORDYCE — The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has announced plans for a drawdown at Tri-County Lake near Fordyce.

The commission says the drawdown will begin July 6 and will lower the lake level by about five feet. The level will be held until late fall.

The commission says the drawdown will concentrate small fish such as crappie and bluegill to make them more susceptible to predators such as largemouth bass and fishermen. The commission says reducing the numbers will lead to larger crappie and bluegill and improve the growth and condition of the bass.

The drawdown will also allow for repairs to jetties that have eroded and reduce vegetation on the upper end of the lake.
