Saluting: A patriotic parade, reading of the Declaration of Independence, wily Red Coats and lots of watermelon and lemonade welcome the nation's birthday at Historic Arkansas Museum's Frontier Fourth of July celebration, 2-4 p.m.. Sinking: Wild and wacky watercraft will float (or not) on Greers Ferry Lake during the annual Championship Cardboard Boat Races, 10 a.m. July 25 at Sandy Beach, Heber Springs. This year's "Jimmy Buffett Style" theme will bring out a wide range of specially designed boats competing for the various awards. There will also be a treasure dig, watermelon eating contest and volleyball tournament. Admission is free for spectators. Registration is $50 per team through July 17, $70 after.
