A gunman shot at a customer Wednesday night during a robbery of a gas station at the edge of Little Rock's Hillcrest neighborhood, but the customer wasn't hit, authorities said.

It happened about 9:45 p.m. at the Doublebee's Exxon at Markham and Van Buren streets across from War Memorial Park.

Little Rock police said two robbers armed with handguns demanded cash from employees while ordering a customer inside to get on the ground.

The customer refused, police said in a statement, and one of the men fired a shot at him during an ensuing struggle. The customer wasn't hurt.

The gunmen then made off with cash, running north from the business.

The robbers are described as black men in their 20s. One stood 5-foot-3, had an average build, weighed about 135 pounds and was wearing dark clothes and a hood with a blue scarf covering his face. The other man was said to be about 5-foot-8, weighing around 205 pounds and wearing dark clothing with "something over his face," a police statement said.

No arrests have been made.
