Grayson Gunter earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas after his performance at Saturday's Advance Camp, and Wednesday he called Razorbacks Coach Bret Bielema to orally commit.

Gunter, a 6-5, 218-pound tight end from Madison (Miss.) Central High School, chose the Hogs over offers from 12 other schools, including Mississippi State, Arkansas State, Tulane, Louisiana Tech and Memphis.

He said being around Arkansas' coaches and the community helped convince him.

"Once I was up there and got to see the offense and the way they use their tight ends and be around the coaches, I knew that was the place I wanted to be," Gunter said. "I just needed to get an offer and make it happen."

Gunter ran the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds during the camp and showed nice receiving skills. He also visited Fayetteville in April.

He said he is a big fan of Bielema.

"He seems like a very down-to-earth guy, very straightforward, and I appreciate that," Gunter said. "He's had a pretty good track record with tight ends and putting them into the NFL."

Bielema has had four tight ends drafted by NFL teams, including A.J. Derby this year. Juniors Hunter Henry and Jeremy Sprinkle will likely be drafted as well.

Gunter said he believes he's similar to Derby, Henry and Sprinkle.

"I think my playing style resembles guys like that," he said. "That's why I want to be a Hog."

Gunter said Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. never backed off in his recruiting.

"Coach Lunney has been recruiting me for over three months now," Gunter said. "He has always checked on me weekly. Arkansas stuck with me whenever I had one offer. That was always a big deal for me."

Gunter is Arkansas' 10th commitment for the 2016 class. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
