CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Spring River Paramedic Ambulance Foundation will auction an a vacant lot at 32 Oklawaha Drive in Cherokee Village on Saturday before the fireworks festivities on Lake Thunderbird. The auction will be by the lake’s marina. Fireworks Extravaganza

HEBER SPRINGS — The city of Heber Springs, Cleburne County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will present the Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Extravaganza, beginning at noon at Dam Site Park, 315 Heber Springs Road N. A donation of $10 is requested for parking, and roadside parking will not be permitted. HORSESHOE BEND — The Horseshoe Bend Farmers

2015 Summer Reading Round-Up

Second Time Around Bookstore

SEARCY — The Literacy Council of White County operates the Second Time Around Bookstore at 109 E. Center. Proceeds from the sale of donated books support the mission of helping adults in the community improve their literacy and English-language skills. The store and literacy office are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. All prices are reduced through Tuesday for the bookstore’s moving sale. T Tauri Movie Camp Registration Deadline

BATESVILLE— July 6 is the deadline to register for the 11th annual T Tauri Movie Camp, which offers a variety of video-production workshops for aspiring filmmakers ages 8 to 18 and will take place July 13-25. This year’s camp will offer four workshops ranging in length from two to 3 1/2 days: Script to Screen Narrative Filmmaking, Music Video, Cut Paper Stop Motion Animation and Depicting Zombies. The cost is $60 to $100 each for the workshops, which are taught by experienced filmmakers/educators. All supplies and equipment are included. History Detectives Day Camp

POWHATAN—Powhatan State Park will host a day camp for kids ages 7-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7. The registration fee for the camp is $75.
