Russellville Trail Dedications

RUSSELLVILLE — The city of Russellville invites the public to the dedication of the Orbit Lane Trail at 11:30 a.m. The trail, at 3694 Pleasant View Road in the competition water-ski area in Pleasant View Park, was funded by a grant from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department’s Recreational Trails Program. The dedication of the Ouita Coal Company Mountain Bike Trail will follow at noon. The bike trail is in Illinois Bayou Park at 6630 U.S. 64 W.

Parks Commission-AVSA Board Meeting

RUSSELLVILLE — A meeting between the Russellville Recreation and Parks Commission and the Arkansas Valley Soccer Association Board to discuss water at the soccer complex will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hughes Community Center.

Steel Magnolias Auditions

CONWAY — Steel Magnolias will take the stage in September at the Conway Dinner Theater. The cast calls for six women, ages 19 to mid-60s, a colorful group in that true Southern style. First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break

CONWAY — A First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at Dave Ward Drive and Farris Road. Lunch, for $5, includes a drink and dessert. The guest speaker, Andrea Lennon, will share from her latest book, On the Road With Ruth. Women of all ages are invited to attend. Garage Sale

MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School’s annual garage sale will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday in the school’s air-conditioned gym. A large variety of items will include furniture, toys, clothing and more. All revenue from the sale will benefit the school. Community Fireworks Display

RUSSELLVILLE — The city of Russellville will present a free community fireworks display at 9:25 p.m. at Old Post Road Park. Concessions will be available through the Russellville Kiwanis Club.

Fireworks Extravaganza

HEBER SPRINGS — The city of Heber Springs, Cleburne County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will present the Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Extravaganza, beginning at noon at Dam Site Park, 315 Heber Springs Road N. A donation of $10 is requested for parking, and roadside parking will not be permitted. Cooling Station, Movies and More

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library is an official cooling station. Anyone who needs a cool place to be during library hours is invited to come in and check out the library’s programs. In addition to regular library programming, classic, family-friendly films will be shown Tuesdays and Fridays. Children are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult. The movie schedule is as follows: 3 p.m. July 7; 3 p.m. July 10; 10 a.m. July 17; 3 p.m. July 21; 3 p.m. July 24; 3 p.m. July 28; and 3 p.m. July 31. The library also has games, puzzles and coloring sheets in the reference area for use. All library events are free and open to the public. Adult Summer Reading Program

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library offers Escape the Ordinary, the library’s first summer reading program for adult readers ages 16 and older. Participants will sign up and receive a punch card to keep track of books that they check out and read. E-book readers are asked to email a list of e-books read to fcl@fcl.org. Card punches are also given for other activities. Three prizes will be given during the summer, including an iPad Mini 3. M.J. Hickey Pool Hours

RUSSELLVILLE — The M.J. Hickey Pool is open from 12:30-6:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $4 for adults 18 and older; $3 for children 7 to 17; and $2 for children 6 and younger. Individual season passes are available for $75 at the Hughes Center, 1000 E. Parkway.

Friends of the Library Book Shop

HEBER SPRINGS — The Friends of the Library Book Shop, 2255 Arkansas 25B N., is open from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The shop offers a large selection of books at bargain prices. All proceeds from the shop benefit the libraries in Cleburne County.

Cherokee Bingo

CONWAY — Cherokee Bingo begins at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Helton’s Wrecker Service/U-Haul, 710 S. Harkrider St. All proceeds go to the Helton-Osburn-Spencer Scholarship Fund at the University of Central Arkansas.

Conway Christian School Worldview Camp

CONWAY — Conway Christian School will host its first Worldview Camp for Faulkner County students in the seventh through 12th grades on July 7-9 on the CCS campus. Richard Henley, the school’s president and CEO, said speakers for the camp will be from around the state and cover topics such as Creation vs Evolution, Race Issues From a Biblical Viewpoint, dinosaurs, fossils, apemen and other topics. Life Choices Gala

CONWAY — Life Choices, the pregnancy resource center in downtown Conway, will host its annual fundraising gala, Celebrating 35 Years of Life, on Sept. 12 at the Conway Expo Center. This year’s featured speakers will be Alan and Lisa Robertson of A&E’s Duck Dynasty. The event will be catered by D& L Catering and will feature a live auction, as well as a ministry update.
