Murder auditions

Producer-playwright Stacey Bean will hold auditions for his Murder at Movary Manor, 7 p.m. July 13 at The Public Theatre, 616 Center St., Little Rock.

Bean will cast five men (two nonspeaking) and one woman from cold readings of "sides" from the script. He's also looking for a full tech crew, including those experienced with costumes, wigs, lighting, sound, props, etc.

Works on paper

July 24 is the deadline for members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, an online gallery promoting the work of Arkansas artists, to submit up to three entries to the Arkansas Arts Council for its 2016 Small Works on Paper exhibition. Works in media ranging from colored pencil, mixed media collage and printmaking to digitally manipulated photographs must be no larger than 18 by 24 inches. Membership to the registry is free and open to all Arkansas artists.

Juror Kati Toivanen, professor and associate dean for undergraduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, will select up to 40 pieces for the exhibition, which will travel to 10 venues across the state (starting in January at the Batesville Area Arts Council). Up to $2,000 is available for the Arts Council for juror-selected purchase awards; those works become part of the permanent Small Works on Paper collection.

There's a $10 per-entry fee, $25 for three entries. Announcement of the selections will be in September. Entry forms are online at arkansasarts.org or call (501) 324-9766. For information, call (501) 324-9767 or email cheri@arkansasheritage.org.
