Randen Caruthers, 18, and Desmond Patton, 17, were arraigned in Osceola District Court on Monday. Both were charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery and engaging in violent criminal group activity. Patton was also charged with possession of firearms by certain persons.

District Judge Donald Betterton set bail for the pair at $500,000 each. They remained in the Mississippi County jail in Luxora, said Capt. Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.

Police said Caruthers, Patton and Kennon Daniels, 20, robbed Arthur Parnell, 27, at his south Blytheville home on June 22.

During the robbery, several shots were fired and Daniels was hit, Adams said. Patton and Caruthers fled, he added.

Daniels collapsed, and medical personnel took him to Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, where he died.

Adams said Parnell was not armed, and Daniels was inadvertently shot by either Caruthers or Patton.

The two are scheduled for an arraignment hearing in Mississippi County Circuit Court on July 27.
