Arkansas Children's Hospital helping on food-allergy study

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Children's Hospital's Research Institute will receive $119,000 over the next year for its part in a study of food allergies.

The nonprofit organization Food Allergy Research & Education is spending $2 million among 22 research centers annually. Members of the FARE Clinical Network will host clinical trials in the search for new medicines and develop "best practices" for patients.

Dr. Stacie Jones will serve as the director at the Little Rock facility. She is the chief of allergy and immunology at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

FARE says food allergies affect one out of every 13 children.
