In other actions Monday, the Supreme Court:
• Refused to consider letting states require evidence of citizenship when people register to vote for federal elections, rejecting an appeal from Arizona and Kansas.
• Rejected appeals from BP and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and left intact a ruling that opens the companies to potentially billions of dollars in fines for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
• Rejected an appeal from former Rep. Rick Renzi, R-Ariz., leaving intact his conviction for public corruption, insurance fraud and racketeering.
• Left in place lower-court rulings ordering hearings regarding jurors in two North Carolina death-penalty trials who reached beyond the jury room for biblical references to help their deliberations.
