Parolee accused of hunting at night

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission arrested a parolee Saturday who was hunting at night near Keo, according to a police report.

Wildlife officers said they watched as Jamye Dougan, 33, stopped his vehicle about 10:30 p.m. near Chapel Road and North Highline Road and grabbed a gun and flashlight. According to the report, Dougan pointed the gun from the side of the road.

Night hunting and using artificial lights to view or locate wildlife is prohibited by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Officers stopped Dougan and discovered he is a convicted felon.

Dougan was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of night hunting, using artificial light to shoot after dark, driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to pay registration fee, improper use of registration, failure to pay a fine and possession of firearms by certain persons.

He remained on the jail's roster late Sunday with a parole hold placed on his custody.

Homeless woman arrested in knifing

North Little Rock police arrested a homeless woman Sunday who admitted to stabbing her boyfriend in the back, according to a police report.

Officers responded to Virginia Kelly Drive in North Little Rock about 6:30 p.m. after Carla Jane Billetdeaux, 51, reported she had stabbed Charles McCosh, police said.

When police arrived, Billetdeaux was walking behind McCosh and holding a knife, according to the report. Police said she smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

Billetdeaux was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of second-degree battery and public intoxication.

She remained in jail late Sunday. Her bail had not been set.

Cussing man runs afoul of NLR police

A North Little Rock man assaulted a police officer Saturday while he was being arrested for cussing at the officer and at oncoming traffic, according to a police report.

Police witnessed Demarcus Allen, 30, standing in the road near 11610 Camp Robinson Road in North Little Rock about 1 p.m. Allen was cussing at passing cars, police said.

An officer used a loudspeaker to ask Allen "if that was necessary," the report states. Allen purportedly replied, "F*** you, you ain't gonna jack with me."

According to the report, Allen grabbed the officer by the shirt while being arrested. The officer grabbed Allen's neck and hit him in the jaw, knocking both of them to the ground. After a tussle, the officer took out his stun gun, and Allen surrendered, the report said.

Allen was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of third-degree battery and disorderly conduct.

He remained on the jail's roster late Sunday. His bail was set at $2,700.

Gate knocked over, car found in ditch

A Tolleson, Ariz., man was found drunk in a vehicle that had run over a gate at a North Little Rock church Saturday, the Pulaski County sheriff's office reported.

Deputies found Gerald Vanderhoof, 30, at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 8158 Bicentennial Road, about 2:25 a.m. A vehicle was stuck in the ditch, and the iron gate to the church had been run over, according to a sheriff's office report.

Vanderhoof smelled of alcohol, deputies said. They were unable to confirm that he had been driving.

Vanderhoof was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and public intoxication.

He was no longer listed on the jail's roster late Sunday.

Man, 32, charged with fleeing police

A Lonoke man who fled from a deputy was arrested on drug and traffic charges Friday, the Pulaski County sheriff's office reported.

A deputy spotted someone driving "erratically" on Interstate 30 in Little Rock about 1:30 a.m. According to a sheriff's office report, the car, which was reported stolen, sped up when the deputy attempted to stop it.

During the pursuit, the driver -- later identified as 32-year-old Michael Wilson -- was going about 80 mph and ran stop signs, the report states.

Wilson purportedly jumped out of the car and ran away near 16th Street. While running, he dropped a syringe and a bag containing a "white powdery substance," the report states.

Wilson was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a suspended license, failure to obey device, theft by receiving, fleeing, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and not wearing a seat belt.

His bail was set at $26,100. He was no longer listed on the jail's roster late Sunday.

Chase in NLR leads to multiple charges

A Little Rock man who fled from police in a vehicle and on foot Friday was found with marijuana, North Little Rock police reported.

Police chased William Briggs, 22, for about 12 blocks. They first attempted to stop Briggs, who was driving a Crown Victoria, when he ran a red light at 22nd Street and Main Street in North Little Rock about 7:30 p.m.

Briggs drove approximately 50 mph and made several turns before stopping in a parking lot near 17th and Vine streets and taking off on foot, according to a police report.

An officer with Union Pacific police was injured while helping with the pursuit. According to the report, he cut his hand climbing a fence.

After officers caught Briggs, they pepper-sprayed him because he was "kicking his legs," police said.

They purportedly found approximately 5 ounces of marijuana in Briggs' pants and another ounce in the Crown Victoria.

Briggs was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of fleeing, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver.

His bail was set at $17,500. He was no longer listed on the jail's roster late Sunday.
