A homeless man is accused of diving for a $20 bill that another man dropped and then fighting the man before escaping with the money, police said.

Mark Charles Dudley, 52, is facing charges of robbery and possession of an instrument of crime.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, the victim was walking out of a gas station in the 6800 block of Colonel Glenn Road about noon Monday when he dropped the money on the sidewalk.

Police say Dudley spotted the dropped cash and dived to the ground, knocking the victim over.

"The victim advised that a struggle ensued and the suspect struck him several times in the face," police wrote in the report, noting the victim suffered visible injuries and swelling.

The victim led investigators to Dudley, whose knuckles were bloody and who was in possession of a $20 bill as well as a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine, the report said.

Dudley remained in the Pulaski County jail Tuesday morning with bail set at $16,000. A court date is scheduled for next Monday.
