Taxi trip sends LRman to county jail

A man who was accused of not paying his cab fare got a free ride to jail Monday morning, Little Rock police said.

Jhakoby Jennings, 34, who lives in an apartment off West 12th Street, was a passenger in a Yellow Cab Co. taxi that dropped him off at his apartment about 9:30 a.m. He went into the apartment without paying his fare.

When officers arrived, Jennings told them that not paying the cab fare "was no big deal" and that it was "only a misdemeanor." "Give me a citation," he added.

Officers charged him with theft of services and took him to the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Monday afternoon. His bail on the misdemeanor was set at $1,000. He also was listed as a hold for state parole officers.

Victim, witnesses retake stolen phone

A teen who broke into a vehicle gave up the cellphone he stole after the victim and witnesses chased him Sunday afternoon, Little Rock police said.

The theft occurred about 2 p.m. outside a business near Interstate 430 and Colonel Glenn Road, according to an arrest disposition report.

The victim and witnesses told police they saw the teen break into a vehicle, chased him behind a business and confronted him. The suspect then ran again before witnesses chased him down again. This time, the teen returned the cellphone.

Officers responding to the incident found the teen walking near the intersection. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

Malik O. Bethley, 16, of 3320 Longcoy St., was charged as an adult with breaking or entering, theft and resisting arrest. He wasn't listed on the Pulaski County jail's online roster Monday afternoon.

Police: Gas-station wreck intentional

A North Little Rock man intentionally drove into another person's vehicle while the driver was inside Sunday, police reported.

According to an arrest report, two other people were in a Ford F-150 with Andrew Wayne Cash, 24, when he drove into a vehicle about 10:30 p.m. at A to Z gas station, 4514 E. Broadway in North Little Rock.

After watching the store's security footage, police determined that Cash hit the vehicle on purpose.

No one was injured.

Cash was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on three counts of aggravated assault.

His bail was set at $75,000. He remained on the jail's roster late Monday.

Pet walker unhurt after LR shooting

A woman walking her pets Friday was shot at multiple times, Little Rock police reported.

Censi Childs was walking near 1515 Leander Drive about 3:30 p.m. when a man pulled up in a Chevrolet Impala and shot at her, police said. She was not injured.

Childs told police he had shot five rounds. Police found three shell casings at the scene.

The suspect -- identified as 27-year-old Issac Kanamwangi --was later spotted returning to the scene.

Police found he had a semi-automatic, .25-caliber Titan handgun.

Kanamwangi was booked into Pulaski County jail on a charge of aggravated assault. He remained in jail in lieu of $100,000 bond late Monday.
