SEC Women’s Tournament sets earlier start

The opening round of the Southeastern Conference women’s basketball tournament in North Little Rock will start earlier than planned Wednesday because of predicted wintry weather.

Game 1 of the tournament, between the University of Florida and Auburn at Verizon Arena, was originally set to start at 6 p.m. but will now start at 4 p.m., the conference said in a statement. Game 2, between Vanderbilt and Alabama, will start 25 minutes after Game 1 finishes, the SEC said.

Because of the changes, unused tickets for Wednesday’s games may be used for general admission for any remaining session of the tournament, the conference said.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are scheduled to meet Ole Miss at noon Thursday. Tournament and North Little Rock officials will monitor the weather and decide Thursday whether to adjust game times, the SEC said.
