Prescription-drug collection day set

Those with unused prescription medications at home will have the chance to dispose of them April 25, the date of the state’s 10th annual “take-back day,” local law enforcement agencies said.

The free event is intended to remove unused or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications from homes, where they could be stolen, accidentally ingested, abused or become a water pollutant. Collected medications are taken to an incinerator and destroyed.

The event is set to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at participating locations, which include temporary drop-off sites and more than 130 permanent drop-off locations. Drug take-back sites throughout the state can be found at www.artakeback.org.
