Song, drums, dance, opera part of county talent show

Carroll County Music Group is sponsoring a "We've Got Talent" concert at 2:30 p.m. today at the Eureka Springs City Auditorium, 36 S. Main St., Eureka Springs.

More than 100 performers will take the stage, including the Ozarks Chorale; a high school vocal group and a high school drum ensemble; professional folk, blues and jazz performers; a competitive youth dance ensemble; opera singers; and John Two-Hawks on American Indian flute.

Tickets are $10, $5 for children. Proceeds go toward scholarships for students to attend music camps. Call (479) 981-2659.

Celebrating eight

Little Rock's M2 Gallery is celebrating its eighth anniversary with a newly opened exhibit, "M28YRS." The show, which hangs through April 8, features artist Sabine Danze of Paris.

"We are pleased to introduce such an amazing artist to Arkansas," Mac Murphy, co-owner of M2 Gallery, said. "We will be showing video of [Danze's] creative process to help immerse people into the world of Sabine -- a world full of energy and creativity involving the human form."

The anniversary show also will exhibit new works from V.L. Cox of North Little Rock, Dan Holland of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and others.

Santana in Memphis

Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Carlos Santana and his eponymous band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 S. Main St., Memphis.

Wildwood auditions

Wildwood Park for the Arts will hold another round of auditions for its May 11-22 Arts' Art to Go! touring program, The Bremen Town Musicians, by appointment, 6-10 p.m. Tuesday at Wildwood, at 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock.

The show, words and story adapted by John Davies from the Brothers Grimm folktale, features music by Jacques Offenbach, Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Sir Arthur Sullivan and Giuseppe Verdi.

Director Bevan Keating will be casting three singers and is seeking a stage manager with prior experience. Be prepared to perform one aria in any language and 16-32 bars of a musical theater selection; provide sheet music for the accompanist and a current headshot and resume.

Singing bowls

Musician Kenny Parker will play Tibetan singing bowls at 7 p.m. today at Gallery 360, 900 S. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock. Tickets are $13 at the door. For information, call (501) 993-0012.

Parker, a founder of the 1960s psychedelic rock band Shiva's Headband in Austin, Texas, now creates contemplative soundscapes playing the bowls. His Tibetan bowl recordings include Tibetan Fusion.

Opera at the cinema

The Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD series continues with a performance of Rossini's La Donna del Lago at 11:55 a.m. Saturday at several Arkansas movie theaters. An encore presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 18.

Theaters showing the high-definition broadcasts from the Met's New York stage are Breckenridge Village in Little Rock, Tinseltown in Benton, Razorback Cinema in Fayetteville and Texarkana Pavilion 14 in Texarkana. The theaters will show both presentations.

The opera's cast stars Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Florez. It is based on the work by Sir Walter Scott.
