'Diabolical!' redux

The Little Rock Wind Symphony and guest conductor Israel Getzov will take another pitchfork stab at its "Diabolical!" concert, postponed from Feb. 26 on account of inclement weather, at 7:30 p.m. today at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock.

Blake Tyson will be the marimba soloist in the world premiere of his The Shadow of Anubis. Getzov, one of three candidates vying for the group's vacant music director position, will also conduct Julius Fucik's Thunder and Blazes, Fantasy Variations on a Theme by Paganini by James Barnes and arrangements of the "March to the Scaffold" from Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz, "Three Dance Episodes" from On the Town by Leonard Bernstein and the third movement from the Symphony No. 2, "Romantic," by Howard Hanson.

Nicaragua lecture

Sergio Ramirez, novelist, essayist and former vice president of Nicaragua (1985-90), will give a lecture titled, "Is There Still a Revolution in Nicaragua?" and will also discuss contemporary Central America, including the proposed $50 billion Nicaragua Grand Canal, at 7 p.m. today in Rowntree Hall, Walton Fine Arts Center, University of the Ozarks, Clarksville.

The talk is part of the university's Walton Arts & Ideas Series. Admission is free. Call (479) 979-1420.

Poetry reading

Poet and author Terry Wright, professor of writing and dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at the University of Central Arkansas, will give a reading titled "20 Years of Poetic Confrontations" at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Presentation Room, Farris Hall, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway.
