1 ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Jigs, shamrocks and a bevy of wolfhounds will line the streets of Little Rock and North Little Rock for the annual Rock to North Little Rock St. Patrick's Day Parade, 1 p.m. Saturday. Presented by the Irish Cultural Society of Arkansas, the parade starts at Third and Rock streets in Little Rock and ends at Sixth and Main streets in North Little Rock, with floats, Irish step dancing, clowns, music and marching bagpipe bands. 2 SURVIVAL

Hunters, trappers, fishers and knife-throwers will re-create life in the 1800s wilderness at the Southwestern Regional Rendezvous, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday and March 20-21 at 555 Arkansas 80 in Leslie. 3 SOLDIERS

In 1863, Union and Confederate soldiers faced off in the Battle of Helena. To commemorate the anniversary, Helena-West Helena will host a special observance with re-enactments (including historian commentary), home tours, exhibits, music, book fair and living history, Friday-Sunday at locations in and around the town. 4 SYMPHONY

Members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will serenade their Intimate Neighborhood Concerts audience with works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Serenade No. 13, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," K. 525), Peter Tchaikovsky (Serenade for Strings in C major, op.48) and John Corigliano (Aria for Oboe and Strings with Lorraine Duso-Kitts as soloist), 7 p.m. today at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. • Grammy-winning singer Sylvia McNair and pianist Jeffrey Biegel join the Arkansas Symphony and conductor Philip Mann for "Here to Stay, a Gershwin Experience," 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Connor Performing Arts Center, Pulaski Academy, 12701 Hinson Road, Little Rock. For the Acxiom Pops Live! concert, Biegel will solo in George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and the third movement of the Piano Concerto in F major; McNair and a couple of friends will sing (and dance) a number of George and Ira numbers, including "Embraceable You," "Fascinating Rhythm," "The Man I Love," "'S Wonderful," "But Not for Me," "Slap That Bass," "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," "They All Laughed" and "Summertime." Rare video clips and family photos will be among the background visuals. Sponsor is Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. 5 SINGERS

The Arkansas Chamber Singers and conductor John Erwin will perform choral music composed during, performed during or inspired by the American Civil War at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Old State House Museum, 300 W. And speaking of Civil War-era music, multi-instrumentalist and composer Bobby Horton will share his lifelong passion for music and history in "Songs and Stories of the Civil War," 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Beth El Heritage Hall, 406 Perry St. Helena-West Helena. It's part of the Warfield Concerts series. The Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third St., Little Rock, will show off its "Recent Acquisitions" in an exhibit opening in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of 2nd Friday Art Night. The 5-8 p.m. Friday reception will feature music by the John Burnette Band and Ozark Beer Co.'s American Pale Ale and Belgian Style Golden Strong, part of "The Year of Arkansas Beer," sponsored by the Museum Foundation and presented by Arkansas Brewers Guild. A trolley transits between various downtown art venues, also 5-8 p.m. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the galleries and reception is free. 8 STRUT

Runners will sprint past Little Rock landmarks as the Junior League of Little Rock presents its second Downtown Dash, 8 a.m. Saturday. The 5K/10K race starts and ends at the Junior League Building at Fourth and Scott streets. Registration before race day is $35 for the 10K, $25 for the 5K. Race day registration increases by $5. 9 SUMMER

Eva, a straight woman unhappy in her marriage, stumbles into a group of seven lesbians on their annual beachside vacation and falls for one of them in Last Summer at Bluefish Cove by Jane Chambers, onstage at the Weekend Theater, 1001 W. Music will float through the hills around Mountain View at the 13th annual Mountain View Bluegrass Festival, today-Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. This year's lineup includes The Gibson Brothers, Lost and Found and Larry Stephenson Band.
