Lenten Programs

Benton County

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a Lenten study at 3 p.m. each Thursday through Lent. The study, "What Wondrous Love," is a presentation of the story of Holy Week by the Rev. Liz Wagner, associate pastor. Study books are $5.

The church serves weekly Lenten soup suppers at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $3. A canned-food drive will support the Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Lost Bridge Community Church in Garfield, 20650 Oak Ridge Dr., presents "Christ in the Passover" at 6:30 p.m. March 30. A representative of Jews for Jesus will recreate the traditional Jewish Passover meal and service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus' death and resurrection. Berit Olam Hebraic-Messianic Fellowship in Springdale, 903-D W. Johnson Ave., offers a three-part class, "Jesus and the Passover," from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 27 and April 3. Cost of the course is $10, covering a meal served from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The final class will include a Passover Seder.

Holy Week

Benton County

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, 824 W. Oak St., offers Holy Week services. Palm Sunday will be marked with just one service, Holy Eucharist Rite II, at 10 a.m. March 29, including an outdoor procession, Liturgy of the Palms and a dramatic reading of the Passion.

Maundy Thursday service, at 6 p.m. April 2, includes Holy Eucharist Rite II, foot washing and stripping of the altar. Two services are planned for Good Friday, at noon and 6 p.m. April 3, with meditations on the seven last words of Jesus from the Cross. Easter Sunday is celebrated with Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10 a.m. April 5.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 902 S.W. Second St., Bentonville, plans a Palm Sunday service March 29. The service will include communion, followed by a potluck meal, concert by John Two Hawks and 5-by-5 canvasses for sale.
