Arkansan sings onto The Voice

A NEW REALITY: Another Arkansan has made it onto the eighth season of NBC's singing competition show, The Voice. Little Rock native Clinton Washington, who sang "Candle in the Wind" in his blind audition, was chosen by Christina Aguilera. "You have a magical tone and a very cool vibrato," Aguilera said after hitting her buzzer.

Washington, 26, was born and reared in Little Rock and graduated from Central High. He attended and graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and now lives in New York, where he works for a digital-marketing agency in fashion and real estate. His mother, Anne Pattillo, lives in Little Rock, while his father, Henry Washington, resides in Bryant.

DOGGONE PROUD! There are two Arkansas dogs in this year's American Humane Association's Hero Dog Awards. They are Molly, a fire safety dog from Clarksville who is competing in the "Emerging Hero Dog" category, and Catherine, a seizure alert dog from Waddell who is competing in the "Service Dog" category. (NO) SHOW AND TELL: Hearing that Fleetwood Mac's stop at Verizon Arena on Wednesday was postponed (not canceled) the night before the rock concert because of an undisclosed illness led Paper Trails to take a look back at shows that were canceled or postponed, and the differences between the two.

A show that's canceled with refunds offered may be rescheduled -- or not -- while one that's postponed usually -- but not always -- indicates the artist is making an effort to reschedule. The late comedian Robin Williams' planned appearance April 2009 at Verizon in North Little Rock was postponed because of his heart surgery, but a month later it was rescheduled for October. And the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which postponed its March 2012 show at Verizon because of frontman Anthony Kiedis' foot surgery, rescheduled and played that October.

Alison Krauss canceled two concerts in 2005 before she performed in the fall that year. Matchbox 20 was scheduled to play Sept. 14, 2001, but canceled because of the terror attacks three days earlier. The band finally played here in April 2003.

As for cancellations, some of the more memorable ones at Verizon in recent years include Elton John and Billy Joel's November 2012 show, which was canceled because of Joel's health, and the Jimmy Buffett and Coral Reefer Band's December 2013 show that arena officials canceled because of hazardous winter weather.

Turns out, the Fleetwood Mac concert is indeed rescheduled. It's now set for April 19 -- the same night '70s rocker Todd Rundgren, who'll be in Little Rock that weekend for a Saturday symposium on music in education at the Clinton School of Public Service, plays the Rev Room in Little Rock. If Bill and Hillary Clinton -- Fleetwood Mac fans who viewed the group's May 2013 Verizon concert from a private suite -- are in Arkansas on April 19, they may have quite the choice.
