An Alexander man is facing drug charges after police searched his home and found methamphetamine, authorities said.

Ricardo Mendez, 35, is being held at the Saline County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, according to information posted on the facility's website. A news release from the Benton Police Department indicated additional federal charges are expected to be filed.

Police say they obtained a search warrant for Mendez's home in the 1000 block of Fox Hunt Trail in Alexander after he was pulled over for a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

A search of the residence turned up more than a third of a pound of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, money counters, surveillance equipment and multiple firearms, including some that had been reported stolen, according to the news release.

Police say they are continuing to investigate and additional arrests are possible.

Officers from the Benton agency worked the case alongside officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Saline County sheriff's and prosecutor's offices, and the Little Rock Police Department.
