ROGERS -- Sara Giesen and Sami Cloe of Rogers Heritage both signed letters of intent Wednesday to continue their athletic careers in college next year.

Giesen signed to play basketball at Rhodes College in Memphis, while Cloe signed to play volleyball at Allen County (Kan.) Community College, both in a ceremony at Heritage High School.

Giesen, a 5-8 swing player, earned honorable mention all-conference honors this season and averaged 11.1 points per game. Cloe, a 5-7 setter, started as a senior and helped the Lady War Eagles to their first state tournament victory in school history.

Giesen's hard work culminated in her best season as a Lady War Eagle.

"She was fabulous. Everything we had hoped she would become came to fruition this season," Heritage girls basketball coach Kevin Ramey said. "We couldn't have asked for more out of her. I think she was in the top 15 in scoring in our conference -- led us in a number of games."

Cloe did not play volleyball her junior year but worked hard in the offseason to have a strong senior year.

"She led us in assists, match-high, season-high and had an average of 98 percent accuracy," Heritage volleyball coach Sarah Miser said. "She's got great hands and knows who to get the ball to as far as a decision-maker goes."
