North Little Rock High School head football coach Brad Bolding has filed a letter of appeal contesting his firing and requesting a hearing before the school board, according to a copy of the letter obtained Friday.

The letter from attorney David Couch, who represents the coach, asks that the hearing before the North Little Rock School Board be held in a "place large enough to accommodate the public."

The appeal letter contests allegations made in a firing notice issued last month, a day before the coach was scheduled to appear before the school board to contest an initial termination notice.

In the latest notice, the North Little Rock School District accused Bolding of violating procedures involving purchases of more than $230,000.

Bolding has denied any wrongdoing and said he believes the school district issued the second firing notice in retaliation for him speaking out about his firing and other concerns.

The coach's appeal comes as both Bolding and the NLR Athletic Foundation, a nonprofit booster club with close ties to the coach, have filed formal ethics complaints against school district administrators.

Superintendent Kelly Rodgers and other district administrators have denied the allegations made in the complaints.
