UA's Boyer picked to lead LSU school

FAYETTEVILLE -- Mark Boyer, head of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville's landscape architecture department, has been selected to lead Louisiana State University's landscape architecture school, LSU announced Monday.

Boyer, an LSU alumnus, will assume directorship of LSU's Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture in July, pending approval from the LSU System board of supervisors, the university announced.

He received a master's degree in landscape architecture from LSU, according to the announcement. He earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Kentucky.

"I'm not from Louisiana, but as someone once told me, once you've been to LSU, it gets in your blood," Boyer said in a statement. "I'm excited to come back and completely honored to be offered the position as director of the school."

Boyer joined UA in 1998 and began leading UA's Department of Landscape Architecture in 2010 after being interim director for two years.

Boyer was also an interim associate dean for UA's Fay Jones School of Architecture from May 2013 until June 2014 and is co-director for UA's teaching and faculty support center, according to his biography published on UA's website.
