Scalia set to speak in Mountain Home next month

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home will host U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for a free, public lecture next month, university officials announced Wednesday.

"A Conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia" will begin at 6:30 p.m. April 16 in the Vada Sheid Community Development Center, ASU-Mountain Home spokesman Christy Keirn said in an email.

A limited supply of free tickets are available, and can be reserved at the center's box office or ordered online at www.thesheid.com, Keirn said.

The session will be moderated by adjunct instructor Jim Carroll and assistant professor of history Jim Bailey, Keirn said.

Photos will be allowed only for the first two minutes and last two minutes of Scalia's talk, and no recording of any kind will be permitted, the university said.

Scalia was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986 and has served as an associate justice for more than 27 years.

Scalia spoke in Fort Smith last month at a lecture hosted at the U.S. Marshals Museum.
