MovieStyle: Get Uncomfortable

First-time director Etan Cohen is not to be confused with Ethan Cohen of the famous moviemaking brothers.

And Etan’s raunchy Get Hard, about a rich white man’s panic over being sentenced to prison, is not to be confused with any of the brothers’ efforts, though it does have a few things going for it, among them the pairing of box-office champions Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart and the willingness to join our ongoing national debate about race, class and sexuality.

But is it funny? Or funny enough? Our Piers Marchant takes a look at the film in this week’s MovieStyle.

This week also sees the opening of Dreamworks Animations Home, a kid-friendly cartoon analyzed by our Dan Lybarger, and the grown-up scary movie It Follows, dissected by our Stephen Jones. Plus Philip Martin previews the Ozark Foothills Film Fest and Karen Martin surveys the week’s home video releases.
