Police investigating 2 explosions in Black Rock area

WALNUT RIDGE — Two explosions have rattled Lawrence County, but authorities do not know what caused them.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that the first explosion occurred Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and the second one happened Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. No injuries or damage related to the explosions have been reported.

The newspaper reported that the explosions seemed to be centered around the Imboden/Black Rock area. Nearby police forces received calls about the blast.

According to Lawrence County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Buddy Williams, the blasts may be due to rock crushing operations near Black Rock.

Investigators will visit the rock quarries to see if they were the source of the blasts.
