Singer-songwriter Campbell returns to Folk Club

Kate Campbell
Kate Campbell

Kate Campbell, a singer-songwriter who has been called a musical Eudora Welty for her story-telling abilities, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the Little Rock Folk Club at its venue, Thomson Hall. Admission is $15, $8 for students with IDs and free for accompanied children ages 12 and younger.

Campbell has released 14 solo albums since her 1994 debut Songs From the Levee. Her latest album, however, Due South Co-op, released in December 2013, was as a member of a folk trio, The New Agrarians, consisting of Campbell, Tom Kimmell and Pierce Pettis.

Her second album, Moonpie Dreams, released in 1997, opened with the song "When Panthers Roamed in Arkansas," which became a concert staple when Campbell plays in the state. The album included contributions from noted musicians Guy Clark, Buddy Miller, Spooner Oldham and Al Perkins.
