NLR police arrest man in bank heist

A man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with robbery and theft of property shortly after robbing a North Little Rock bank, police said.

Wayde Earl Stewart, 58, of 6009 Allen St. in North Little Rock was arrested at 12:09 p.m. in front of the Edwards Cash Saver at 3801 Camp Robinson Road, minutes after police said he robbed the U.S. Bank at 3701 Camp Robinson Road.

Police responded to the bank at 12:04 p.m. Thursday, where bank employees told officers that a man entered the bank and demanded money by passing a note to a teller, police reported. The man obtained an unknown amount of cash from the teller and fled the bank, heading northwest.

Stewart, who matched the description of the robber, was later arrested and admitted involvement in the robbery, and officers found a large amount of cash on him as well as the note he used, police said.

Stewart was being held in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night with no bond set.

2 teens held in LR restaurant robbery

Police arrested two teenagers Thursday morning and charged them with aggravated robbery in an armed robbery of a southwest Little Rock Sonic, according to an arrest report.

Gregory Paul Foster, 18, of 1 Sawyer Court in North Little Rock and Maurice Dewayne Dudley, 17, of 2860 Franklin Ave. in San Diego were both arrested at 7:35 a.m. Thursday, police reported. Foster was arrested at 6300 Juniper Road, and Dudley was arrested at 6601 Tulip Road, police said.

Police said the pair entered the Sonic at 8100 Geyer Springs Road earlier that morning and demanded access to the safe. The two fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash before being located by police.

Dudley, who was also charged with theft of property, fleeing, second-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest, knocked down a privacy fence while fleeing and was found with a bus ticket to California, police reported.

Foster also was charged with theft of property, fleeing, obstructing government operations and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

The two were being held in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night with no bonds set.

Man surrenders in car lot shooting

A North Little Rock man surrendered to police Tuesday on first-degree battery and committing a terroristic act warrants in connection with a March 13 shooting, police said.

Joe Willie Mitchell III, 31, of 1100 E St. surrendered at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Little Rock District Court, 200 W. Pershing Blvd., according to an arrest report.

Mitchell is accused of shooting and injuring Quentin King, 35, of North Little Rock and Anthony Davis, 39, of Newport at a car lot at 1701 E. Broadway, according to a police report. Police responded to the scene at 5:29 p.m. March 13.

Mitchell was being held in the Pulaski County jail Thursday night in lieu of $250,000 bond.
