Retired Nurses

The Retired Nurses of Northwest Arkansas will meet Tuesday in the community room at Mercy Clinic, 1 Mercy Way in Bella Vista. The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m., with optional lunch and social time. At noon the guest speaker will be Jim Graham, doctor of pharmacy at Cornerstone Pharmacy, in the clinic building. He will address polypharmacy and drug interactions.

The meeting is open to retired or semi-retired nurses, spouses and guests. Reservations are requested to assure adequate seating and food.

Fly Tyers

The Bella Vista Fly Tyers Fishing and Conservation Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Riordan Hall. The club will honor Don Chapman for his 27 years of teaching students the art of tying fishing flies. Chapman, 81, is retiring from teaching. Visitors are welcome.

The 170-member club meets every Thursday morning with speakers on various subjects.

AARP

AARP Chapter 109 is canceling the regular meeting scheduled for April 3 because of the Good Friday holiday. The new meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. April 10 at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd. The program will feature the Bella Vista Women's Chorus.

Chapter 109 operates the Bella Vista Recycling Center at 400 Pinion Bluff Drive. Volunteers are welcome in this activity, which has provided funds for many nonprofit groups in Bella Vista.

Hill N Dale

The Hill N Dale Hikers will have a choice of hiking one or two trails in the Upper Buffalo Wilderness area on Tuesday. The group will leave from Bella Vista Harps upper parking lot at 8 a.m. and carpool to the Ponca area. Both trails are considered moderate with Hawksbill Crag being 3.2 miles and the Buffalo River Trail from Ponca to Steel Creek 2 to 4 miles. Hikers should bring a sack lunch, snacks and water.

Fayetteville Altrusa

Altrusa of Fayetteville will host a series of weekly speakers in April in celebration of the club's 75th anniversary. The events are open to the public.

April 16: Life Styles and ASTRA at Fayetteville High School, 6:30 p.m.

Square Dance

Ark-Oma Whirlaways square dance club will dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St. Bob Loyd will be the featured caller. Square dance attire admired but not required.

Iota Alpha

Iota Alpha Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will meet April 8 at the home of Judy Schoeny. The social time is 9:30 a.m. with the meeting beginning at 10 a.m. Pat Golden will present the program.

The social this month is the Founder's Day luncheon on April 24. The service project is the purchase of bird seed for Concordia as well as donations for Oasis/Saving Grace.

Herb Society

The Herb Society of Northwest Arkansas will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. April 9 at the historic Steele General Store Building at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

Marci Vaughn will present the program, "Herbs: A Place to Begin." This presentation is for anyone new to growing herbs or for people who would like to expand their knowledge of herbs.

Springdale Altrusa

Altrusa of Springdale meets the first Tuesday of the month at Star Mechanical on Randall Wobbe Road and the third Tuesday of the month at Simmons Bank on West Sunset Avenue. It is a philanthropic organization helping Northwest Arkansas.

The upcoming fashion show and tea will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 11 at the Elks Club on Crossover Road in Fayetteville. Proceeds will go to Northwest Arkansas EOA Children's House. Tickets for the event are $25.

Christian Women

A spring fashion show will be featured at the April 14 Bella Vista Christian Women's Club brunch. Jacquie Queen will be sharing fashions from The Building Boutique. "From Head to Toe" is the theme. Jan Smith, Stonecroft speaker, is from Olathe, Kan. Her talk is "If the Shoe Fits."

The brunch will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista. An all American-style breakfast brunch is served for $10.

The organization is nondenominational, and the public is welcome.

Lighthouses

The Northwest Arkansas Lighthouse Society will meet at 10 a.m. April 20 at the Rogers Wellness Center behind Frisco Station Mall in Rogers. Individuals who enjoy lighthouses are invited.

Modern Quilts

The monthly meeting of the Modern Quilt Guild of Northwest Arkansas is moving, effective April 21. The meetings will be held at the Rogers Historical Museum Education Annex, 120 W. Walnut St., at 6:30 p.m.

The program for April will be on quilters' block. Those attending are encouraged to bring the problems they are having with quilts and talk them over with others in search of a solution.

Photographers

The Ozark Photographic Challenge is accepting entries for the 2015 contest. Photographers may submit up to three 8x10 or 8x12 photos in any of 10 categories. Photos may be mailed or taken to Bedford Camera & Video by May 1. There is no fee. Winning photos will be displayed at the Mid-America Photography Symposium May 16-17 in Eureka Springs.
