Benton gas station robbery suspect identified

Detectives have identified a suspect in the Jan. 17 robbery of Benton gas station.

Marcquestin West, 30, of Little Rock will face charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property in the early morning robbery of the Kum and Go at 2202 Lincoln Road, the Benton Police Department said. West is currently being held in the Jefferson County jail on other charges but will eventually be extradited to Saline County in the robbery case, authorities said.

At the time, police said a man entered the store and demanded money, telling the clerk he would kill him if he didn't get all the money in the cash register and acting as if he had a weapon. The robber took an undisclosed amount of money and left on foot, Benton Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Russell said at the time.

Police said detectives identified West as the suspect through information and evidence “obtained through a close working relationship with detectives in Little Rock and Jefferson County.”

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges could be filed, police said.
