Grocer takes down man in taco theft

A grocery store employee detained a taco thief Sunday afternoon until Little Rock police arrived and arrested the man, according to a police incident report.

Officers responded at 3:26 p.m. to City Market at 4110 W. 12th St. An employee, Michael Samuels, 53, was lying on top of a man he had confronted over shoplifting, the report states.

Samuels told police that the man had taken a beef taco and a drink and tried to leave the store without paying. Samuels confronted the man and wrestled him to the floor when he tried to flee, according to the report.

No injuries were reported.

Police identified the man as Marion Smith, 40. He was charged with robbery and failure to appear.

Smith, who police reported is homeless, was being held at the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $15,000 bond Monday.

Shots fired in lot; LR police jail three

Little Rock police arrested three men Sunday after they were seen shooting guns outside a home improvement store, according to arrest reports.

A woman called police about 11:50 a.m. and said the occupants of a tan Nissan Armada had been shooting guns in the parking lot of Tractor Supply Company at 10801 Colonel Glenn Square. The woman followed the vehicle more than 3 miles, leading officers to the suspects in the 6200 block of Colonel Glenn Road.

Jordan Hobbs, 18; Joshua Whalen, 21; and Emmanuel Harris, 21, were each charged with disorderly conduct. Police reported finding three guns in the vehicle.

No additional charges were filed against the three. They were not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Monday.

iCloud trail leads to burglary arrest

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies used data from iCloud to find and arrest a burglary suspect, according to a sheriff's office report.

Deputies said Justin Drake Goff, 23, of North Little Rock had stolen a check and an iPhone in a burglary.

Authorities used iCloud, which stores digital content, to track Goff to 4701 N. Vine St. in North Little Rock about 9 p.m. Friday. Goff fled, deputies said, but was soon caught and arrested.

According to the report, the stolen iPhone and check were found in Goff's pockets.

Goff was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of theft of property, fleeing, second-degree forgery and obstructing governmental operations, as well as two counts of burglary. Goff had a warrant out for his arrest for purportedly violating his probation.

He remained on the jail's roster late Monday. His bail was set at $26,000.

Two gunmen rob Tropical Smoothie

Two unidentified men robbed a Tropical Smoothie Cafe at gunpoint Friday, Little Rock police reported.

According to a police report, two employees of the restaurant chain's location at 10221 N. Rodney Parham Road were walking to their vehicles about 12:25 a.m. when they were approached by two men wearing black ski masks and holding silver handguns.

The employees told police that the robbers demanded they open the store. One of the robbers ordered 24-year-old Demetrice Thompson to lay facedown on the floor of the restaurant, and the other robber told 47-year-old Terri Holloway to take him to the safe.

While Holloway opened the safe, the robber placed a gun to her head and told her, "Hurry up or I will shoot you," the report states. The other robber also put a gun to Thompson's head and purportedly told him to "shut up or I will shoot you, too."

According to the report, the robbers fled in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of money.

Neither Holloway nor Thompson was injured.

The robbers were both described as black men wearing black hoodies, black pants and black shoes. One man was described as 5-foot-11 and 150 pounds and the other as 6 feet and 170 pounds.

Mom delivers teen son to LR officers

The teenage suspect in a home burglary was taken to a police substation by his mother Friday, according to Little Rock police.

A witness purportedly had seen 17-year-old Ladarius Deshun Williams and two other people climb out of the house at 6612 Tulip Road in Little Rock. The suspects fled as police arrived.

About 11 p.m., Williams was taken by his mother to the southwest substation, 6401 Baseline Road, and he surrendered to police.

Williams was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of residential burglary and theft of property.

He remained on the jail's roster late Monday. His bail was set at $5,000.
