Coroner: One person dead in train accident

One man has died after he was hit by a train near Interstate 30 on Tuesday afternoon, officials say.

Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said the accident occurred about 3:21 p.m. near 9100 I-30.

The victim, who has not been identified other than a man in his 20's, died from injuries sustained in the accident, Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs said.

Hobbs said the man was pronounced dead about 4:25 p.m., and the body is being sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Little Rock police are assisting with the accident, but Union Pacific is also investigating, he said.
