Boozman plans 2 stops in northeast Arkansas

OSCEOLA — U.S. Sen. John Boozman is scheduled to make two stops in northeast Arkansas.

On Friday, Boozman is to visit the Big River Steel Mill in Osceola and an annual airfield reunion in Walnut Ridge.

Boozman is to tour the Big River Steel Mill starting at 3:30 p.m., followed by a speech at the annual Walnut Ridge Army Airfield Reunion at 6 p.m.

The $1.3 billion steel mill is under construction and is expected to eventually have about 450 employees.

The airfield reunion is organized by the Wings of Honor Museum to honor veterans, with an emphasis on those who trained at the airfield that dates to 1942 when the U.S. Army Air Corps chose Walnut Ridge as the site for a flying school.
