New principal picked for Bentonville High School

BENTONVILLE — The Bentonville School Board hired its next high school principal on the same night its current one was chosen for another job.

The board voted late Monday to promote Jack Loyd, an assistant principal at Bentonville High, to principal. He will take the place of Chad Scott, who was chosen as Fayetteville High School's principal during a special meeting Monday of the Fayetteville School Board.

Loyd has been assistant principal at Bentonville High since 2005 and was assistant principal at Washington Junior High for five years before that. He also was interim principal at Fulbright Junior High School for a semester last year.

He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in education from the University of Arkansas in 1988 and a master's degree in education administration from the university in 1999, according to a news release from the School District.

Loyd will begin his new job July 1. He was one of two finalists in the search for a principal at the new West High School. That search ended last month with the selection of Jonathon Guthrie, principal of Lincoln Junior High School.
