Police seek robber of LR dress store

Police were investigating after a man robbed a Little Rock clothing store at gunpoint Friday.

Officers responded at 10:54 p.m. to Dress Barn at 12801 Chenal Parkway. An employee, Tameeka Jordan, 34, said a man wearing a handkerchief over his face had entered the business with a duffel bag and demanded money, according to a police report. The man held Jordan and three others at gunpoint and took an unknown amount of money from a cash register. The robber took a customer’s cellphone and smashed it on the floor before fleeing, the report states.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the area but made no arrests.

The suspect is described as black, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds and between the ages of 25 and 30. He wore a gray hoodie and black pants.

Woman, 52, held in spitting incident

A woman arrested on a public intoxication charge Sunday spat on a North Little Rock police officer, according to a police report.

Police arrested Jacqueline Clayborn, 52, about 4:45 p.m. Sunday at 2300 Schaer Street in North Little Rock over accusations she was drunk and yelling at people in the area.

On the way to Pulaski County jail, Clayborn spit on the officer “numerous times,” a police report states.

Clayborn was booked on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Her bail was set at $25,300.

Clayborn remained on the jail’s roster late Monday.

NLR man charged in purse-snatching

A North Little Rock man was arrested Sunday over accusations he robbed a 72-year-old woman, police reported.

According to a police report, the robber took her bus pass, among other things.

The robber purportedly drove up beside the woman, who had been crossing East Eighth Street in Little Rock. He grabbed her arm and took her purse, the report states.

Police later found the purse, but it was missing some of its contents.

Adrian Meeks, 50, was arrested about 10 a.m. near East Ninth and Sherman streets. He was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of robbery and theft of property, and his bail was set at $15,000.

He was no longer listed on the jail’s roster late Monday.

Neighbors’ quarrel ends with stabbing

A Little Rock man was stabbed by his neighbor during an argument Wednesday, according to a report released Monday.

Kymeka Harris, whose address is listed as 3808 Arapaho Trail, admitted to stabbing Marvin Bryant of 3813 Arapaho Trail about 9 p.m. Wednesday, the police report states. Harris, 31, told police she did so in self-defense.

Bryant suffered a laceration in his right arm and was treated CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, police said.

A witness told police that Harris and Bryant “exchanged words,” and that Harris told Bryant she was going to stab him, according to the report. Harris then pulled out a knife and stabbed him, the report states.

Police found a knife in Harris’ pocket during a search, and she was arrested.

Harris was not listed on the Pulaski County jail’s inmate roster late Monday.

Lawyer urges low bail for student, 40

A public defender representing a suspect in two Sunday robberies asked Monday for his client’s bail to be lowered because the suspect is in school to become a youth mentor/minister.

Brian Hughes, 40, of Sherwood is accused of robbing two people and trying to rob a third at two locations in Little Rock on Sunday. Police say a gun was used in one of the robberies.

Hughes was arrested Sunday and booked into Pulaski County jail on two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of theft of property, as well as robbery, fleeing, careless driving, improper display of license plate and no insurance.

At a hearing Monday morning, Hughes’ bail was set at $75,000. The public defender argued that Hughes was enrolled in a college program and was “already missing his finals.”

Hughes remained on the jail’s roster late Monday.

Police also continued searching Monday for a female accomplice.

According to police reports, a woman with the robber, described only as white, exited a purple PT Cruiser and tried to grab a purse from 64-year-old Ramona Harris in the parking lot of Park Plaza about 12:40 p.m.

The female accomplice attempted to cover Harris’ mouth with a paper towel, but Harris screamed until the woman let go and fled.

After the failed robbery, the robbers went to Breckenridge Village 12 and robbed two people at gunpoint, police said.

Donald and Barbara McCrorry were sitting in their vehicle in the parking lot when a masked robber went to the driver’s-side window and demanded Donald McCrorry’s cellphone and wallet, a police report states. The female accomplice reportedly did the same with Barbara McCrorry, who was in the passenger seat.
