Woman 2nd jailed in two LR robberies

A second person has been arrested by Little Rock police in an attempted robbery Sunday at Park Plaza and a holdup outside the Breckenridge Village 12 cinema, police said.

April George, 30, of 3216 S. Gaines St. in Little Rock, was arrested about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief, criminal trespass and possessing instruments of crime, according to a police report.

George was arrested at 1300 S. Jones St. after officers responded to a burglar alarm at the residence and reportedly found George and Aaron Dillard, 33, of 49 Westmont Circle in Little Rock, having sex in a bedroom, police reported.

A search reportedly turned up a crack pipe in George's bra, police said. Police also found a "foot mark indention" on the front door.

Dillard was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and criminal trespassing. He was no longer listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Tuesday evening.

George was questioned by police and admitted her involvement in Sunday's attempted robbery and holdup, a report said.

According to police reports, a 64-year-old woman was approached by a woman in the parking lot of Park Plaza about 12:40 p.m. Sunday and an attempt was made to snatch the shopper's purse. After that, two people were robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Breckenridge Village 12.

Brian Hughes, 40, of Sherwood, accused with George of the robbery at the movie theater, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of theft of property, as well as robbery, fleeing, careless driving, improper display of license plate and no insurance. He was being held Tuesday evening in the jail with a parole hold placed on him.

George was being held in the jail Tuesday evening in lieu of a $1,500 bond.

Victim says 'Scrap' fired shot into leg

Police were investigating a shooting that injured one person Monday night in Little Rock.

Officers responded about 11:36 p.m. to 4624 John Barrow Road, where Oland Veasley said he'd fled after being shot in the back of the leg nearby. Veasley, 28, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Veasley told officers he'd been talking to a friend when a man with a gun approached and said "where it at," according to a police report. Veasley ran from the man, whom his friend had called "Scrap."

"Scrap" shot Veasley before Veasley hopped into a car, drove away and called for help, the report states.

Police found the crime scene at 4302 Ludwig St., less than a half-mile from where officers responded to Veasley. Investigators recovered a shell casing in front of the residence, the report states.

The gunman is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches, 130 pounds and between the ages of 21 and 24. He wore a black hat and black shirt.

No arrests had been made Tuesday.

Gas station's cash taken in 2nd holdup

Little Rock police were seeking a man who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Monday night.

It was the second armed holdup in less than a month at Murphy USA at 23800 Chenal Parkway.

Officers responded to the gas station about 9:42 p.m. and spoke to a cashier, Jada Davis, according to a police report. Davis, 19, said a man had waited for customers to leave before he pulled a handgun and demanded money. The robber took some cash and fled north toward Cantrell Road.

The robber is described as black, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds and between the ages of 24 and 30. He wore a black hat, T-shirt and pants, and black Nike Air Force One sneakers.

Two gunmen robbed the gas station of cash and cigarettes April 12, police reported.
