Walton Arts Center nets $1 million gift

Fayetteville’s Walton Arts Center on Wednesday said it has received a $1 million gift that will be used toward the performing arts center’s campaign to add 30,000 feet of space.

The donation is from Marti and Kelly Sudduth of Bentonville, who moved to Northwest Arkansas about six years ago from Tulsa and frequent shows at Walton with their children and grandchildren, the arts center said.

The $1 million will benefit the center’s $23 million campaign, which includes plans for a new, larger atrium lobby connecting to Dickson Street; renovations and expansion of Starr Theater; expanded space for technical and theatrical equipment; and new administrative offices, the arts center said. A new event space connecting with the Walton Arts Center Rose Garden will be named the Sudduth Garden Room in the donors’ honor, the center said.
